The Four Things You Need to be Doing to Drive…

Like the #GivingTuesday University Facebook page to keep up with all of our posts and find other practical resources to help your organization achieve success on #GivingTuesday. Everyone wants to know the secret to getting lots of likes, comments, follows, and retweets on their social networks. If there were a silver bullet solution, I’d be a much richer woman! But there are steps you can take find the right engagement formula for your individual audience: See what sticks: Every audience is a little bit different. The Pinnacle of Sami’s Project – by Sami’s Father

The High Atlas Foundation will soon reach the momentous pinnacle of its One Million Tree Campaign. This initiative began as a modest attempt to alleviate rural poverty by transitioning local farmers away from traditional cash crops to fruit tree agriculture. Over 10 years, we estimate to have helped around 50,000 families make the step out of poverty. The planting of HAF’s 1 Millionth Fruit Tree will occur at noon on 16 January 2014 in 8 provinces simultaneously where HAF currently has projects under the auspices of Sami’s Project , a HAF program inspired by the loving memory of Sami El Kouhen to bring transformational and sustainable benefits to often poor and neglected youth in Morocco. Sami lost his battle against…Read More

#GivingTuesday Can Make Dreams Come True!

#GivingTuesday Can Make Dreams Come True!

Poverty didn’t stop Tonya from dreaming big. All she wanted was to get her degree and become a history teacher. Maybe explore the world, beyond her tiny hometown. Now it seemed impossible , because of one, little word: pregnant . Tonya’s last relationship hadn’t been good and now it was over. Her dead-end job barely brought in enough money to get by. She couldn’t afford college, yet alone a baby. “I felt like I lost everything. I lost hope. This was not the way my life was supposed to be,” she admitted. Some people thought Tonya should just get an abortion. They told her a baby would keep her from achieving her dreams. She even felt rejected at church. At that low point, Tonya chose to investigate her options at her local…Read More

A Playbook to Kickstart your #GivingTuesday…

Nonprofits across the country have pledged to participate in #GivingTuesday on Dec. 3 – but signing up to participate in the online giving campaign is just the first step. Being truly successful on #GivingTuesday takes proper planning, outreach, logistics and follow up. Luckily, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Knight Foundation created an easy-to-use resource called the Giving Day Playbook full of ideas we hope you’ll borrow. It was written for the many community foundations around the country that have launched Giving Days, or geographically-based online fundraising campaigns. Organized into sections on planning , outreach , day of logistics and follow-up, the Playbook is full of tips, checklists, templates and…Read More

Share A Smile, We’ll Share A Meal

Share A Smile, We’ll Share A Meal

We can all give a smile. It started with that simple idea. Limitless Good is a new company that looks to celebrate, share and reward all the social good that is happening all around us. #GivingTuesday is such an incredible idea, we knew we wanted to be part of the movement this year. The question was, how could a small company have a big impact in the world of giving. Who doesn’t love the idea of donating and helping charities? The reason why every single person does not take part in #GivingTuesday is not from lack of desire, it’s because they may lack the means to help. We wanted to figure out a way to get more people involved in #GivingTuesday, even if they lacked money or time to donate. What is something that everyone…Read More

BE A HE[A]RO

The Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss (SICHL) is participating in #GivingTuesday to raise awareness of our research aimed at curing major forms of hearing loss and specifically of the ongoing research to ensure that people receiving lifesaving drug treatments are not left with lifelong hearing loss. Alongside our important research into restoring hearing via regenerative methods and research to better understand, protect and restore hearing, our labs are currently working toward making lifesaving drugs such as aminoglycoside antibiotics safer for the ear.   If you are unfamiliar with aminoglycoside antibiotics, they are the most widely used antibiotic worldwide. Their usage is popular in spite of their…Read More
